Alicia Machado was born Yoseph Alicia Machado in Maracay Venezuela on the 6th of December, 1976. Alicia comes from a wide family background, with her father Spanish and her mother is of Cuban descendance. Her career has included a significant actor in film, television and beauty contests all her life. Machado's meteoric rise to fame started when she was named Miss Venezuela in 1995 at just 19 representing the state of Yaracuy. In the year following Machado became the 4th Venezuelan woman to be named Miss Universe 1996. But her time during her time as Miss Universe was marred by the media's negative attention and controversy because of her weight gain during her reign. Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, ridiculed her publicly about her weight loss, calling her Miss Piggy and demanding her to train in front of the media.
